General Therapy FAQ

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be helpful when you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from yourself, struggling in relationships, grieving a loss, or having difficulty coping with life changes.

What can I expect during my first counseling session?

The first session is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and what brings you to therapy. Together, we will explore what support may be most helpful and create a plan for moving forward.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Online counseling is available for adults throughout Texas using a secure telehealth platform.

How often should I attend therapy?

Many clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a strong foundation, then gradually transition to every other week or less frequently as they make progress toward their goals.

Loss of Self & Life Changes FAQ

What does it mean to lose your sense of self?

Many people find that over time they become focused on caring for others, managing responsibilities, or meeting expectations. Therapy can help you reconnect with your values, needs, interests, and identity.

Can therapy help during major life transitions?

Yes. Whether you're navigating divorce, becoming an empty nester, changing careers, entering retirement, or adjusting to other life changes, therapy can provide support and guidance during periods of uncertainty.

Why do I feel disconnected even though everything seems fine?

Sometimes life can look successful on the outside while feeling unfulfilling on the inside. Therapy can help explore underlying concerns, identify unmet needs, and reconnect you with what matters most.

Relationship Counseling FAQ

Do you work with individuals experiencing relationship difficulties?

Yes. Relationship counseling is not only for couples. Individual therapy can help you better understand relationship patterns, communication challenges, boundaries, trust concerns, and decision-making.

Can therapy help after a breakup or divorce?

Absolutely. Therapy can provide support while processing grief, rebuilding confidence, adjusting to life changes, and exploring what you want moving forward.

What if I'm unsure whether to stay in my relationship?

Therapy provides a nonjudgmental space to explore your feelings, values, concerns, and goals so you can make decisions that align with what is most important to you.

Grief Counseling FAQ

Do I need grief counseling if my loss wasn't a death?

Grief can occur after many types of losses, including divorce, relationship endings, infertility, empty nest transitions, health changes, career changes, or loss of identity. Therapy can help you process these experiences and adjust to life after loss.

How long does grief last?

There is no set timeline for grief. Everyone experiences loss differently. Therapy can help you navigate grief at your own pace while finding ways to move forward without forgetting what was lost.

Can grief cause anxiety, depression, or brain fog?

Yes. Grief can affect emotional, physical, and cognitive functioning. Many people experience difficulty concentrating, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, sadness, or feeling disconnected from themselves.
