Therapy is a collaborative effort between counselor and client. The counselor is there to offer tools and techniques for navigating thoughts, feelings, emotions, experiences, and relationships.
You will be gently challenged to take active steps towards resolving your concerns/symptoms through learning how to explore the roots of your struggle, understanding the scope of the impact, and developing strategies to reduce or eliminate the concern.
Everyone's timeline of treatment and recovery varies. All therapy is not the same, and all trajectories in therapy are different. Change requires a process. A treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs to guide the process. Extent of sessions is primarily determined by complexity of concerns and proactivity.
